New and advanced features
Transport management and Warehouse management

This post would be  focus on purchase order integration with WMS.

·         Understand the purchase order flow in the warehouse and transportation modules.

·         Use the mobile device to perform picking and put-away of the purchase order.

Before we start lets go through Pre-steps:-
Create a product with WHM features enabled
Verify Tracking, Storage dimensions are assigned
Also reservation hierarchy , unit sequence group ID are assigned Where these two are advanced features which are introduced in AX 2012 R3

Also assign site and warehouse which are enabled for warehouse management processes.
Setup warehouse management setups like location directives for purchase order and work template is created below are the screen shots for these two setups and steps followed by

Location directives

Location directives are used to direct work transactions to the appropriate locations in the warehouse

WHM->Setup->Location Directives

Create location directive header the process continues in an attempt to find an actual location to "pick from" or "put to". The middle grid on the form, called “lines”, deals primarily with the quantity trying to be located or reserved. By having From Qty and To Qty fields and the Restrict by UOM check box, sequences can be configured so that only quantities or specific UOM's will select the sequence.

Work Template

Work templates are a tool that warehouse management uses to create work at various points in the system.
For example, a purchase order has been received, so a work order must be created for somebody to go and pick items from the defaulted receiving dock and follow the location directive action to put the item away in a particular location. The other areas where work is created at time of sales order, Transfer order, production order

Verify Whether work template is valid which is indicated bottom of the form

Now, We are about to start the process of creating a Purchase Order and start up with warehouse management and transport management process, I'm more interested in demonstrating from where warehouse process starts rather than the pin like creating a Purchase Order
So Create a Purchase Order with product enabled with WHM features, And conform the Purchase Order
1. Go to Procurement and sourcing->purchase order-> select purchase order go to warehouse management tab click on load planning workbench

In the Load planning workbench, you can see that the purchase order line has appeared under Supply and demand.

Select the line and add it to a new load by clicking Demand > To new load.

Next, select the appropriate load template from the drop-down box in the Load template ID field.
The load is now created and will appear on the Loads list in the Load planning workbench.
Now that the load is created, we are ready to start receiving the goods when they arrive at the warehouse. Now go to your mobile device login screen

Login through user ID Password created from warehouse management->setup->work user->worker
Create your login ID and Password also assign your applicable warehouse to which your work order would be created

Above illustrated screen shot displays complete main menu, where as we can assign individual menu item to worker so than he can only perform inbound or outbound process
Select the Inbound menu.

When the Inbound menu opens, select Purchase receive.

Click Ok and it will prompt you to enter Product and Product Qty
Click Ok
Assign a license plate in the LP field to the received goods. Click OK.
On this screen, the goods are placed on the default receiving location 0000-
Once the license plate is assigned worked has been created and a dialogue box would be displayed
Go back to the Purchase order and open the Work details form in the Purchase order lines field.

Here in the above you will find work has been created and in the lines you can find two action points like Put and Pick activities which are pending and should be performed through mobile portal
Where through purchase receive activity is performed and work has been created and purchase put away menu item in mobile portal will help to complete above activity and could complete work order process
In my next post I would brief about purchase put away and outbound process i.e. sales order WHM integration and transport management concepts like freight reconciliation, appointment scheduling etc.

Thanks for your understanding
